What types of martial arts styles do you offer?
At AG Martial Arts, we primarily focus on kickboxing, which is the discipline our students progress in to earn their black belt. However, we also offer a taste of other martial arts styles to provide a well-rounded experience for our students.
What values or life skills do you promote in your martial arts program?
At AG Martial Arts, we prioritise character development over producing world champions. While we excel in teaching martial arts, our primary focus is on nurturing the best characters. We strive to instil essential life skills such as confidence, discipline, and other values that contribute to personal growth and character development.
What Do I Wear?
For your first class at AG Martial Arts, feel free to wear anything you or your child feel comfortable in, such as PE kit or gym gear. Kids may need to remove their shoes (depending on the hall), but adults should keep their trainers on. Just make sure your clothing allows you to kick high without any limitations. Don’t forget to bring a water bottle as the lessons can be intense. After the first class, you’ll receive details on obtaining the required uniform, which is included as part of the joining fee. From there on, you’ll be all set with everything you need!
What Happens On The Day?
On the day, you should wear appropriate training gear such as loose tracksuits/shorts and a t-shirt, and comfortable footwear for running. Dress as you would for gym/PE classes. A bottle of water is advised as you are likely to be working at a heavy pace to reach your goals from day one. When you go in, the instructor of the class will greet you and help you settle in. Try to arrive 10/15 minutes early so you can chat to the instructor about what you want to achieve from the class. If you have any health conditions, be sure to let the instructor know at this point if you haven’t already. You can place bags and items to the side of the hall, just be sure to ask the instructor where they go to make sure it isn’t in the way. Then it’s time to train!
What’s The Structure For Adults/Ladies Classes?
Here’s what to expect at our classes! All abilities are welcome. When you arrive, you’ll meet the instructor and be welcome in. You’ll be introduced to other people and to feel part of the group. There’s a light group warm-up, followed by other activities. It’s not as intimidating as you may think! There’ll be a number for the instructor of the class when you book in, so you can always iron out any specific questions or concerns too.
What age groups can participate in classes?
At AG Martial Arts, we welcome participants of all ages, from 3 years old and above, regardless of whether you’re 70+ or somewhere in between! Our classes are super friendly and structured into different age groups: 3-6 year olds, 7-13 year olds, and people aged 14+.
